The government of the District of Columbia is embarking on a major revamp of its communications technologies as one of many steps to improve its level of service, specifically emergency services, to its residents. It's amazing the difference a few years make - especially in municipal government administration. Just half a decade ago the District of Columbia was perceived as a nice place to visit, but not the best place to work and enjoy the benefits of modern technology. Today, the nation's capital has grown its reputation from "worst to first" in the municipal technology world, garnering national awards and accolades for successfully tackling seemingly insurmountable technology hurdles, and for creating truly innovative solutions that directly benefit its citizens.
